BuyAssociation: Now may be good time to buy

23 April 2008
Property investors are told by experts at BuyAssociation that now "may be a time to extend your portfolio".

The property website's editor Paul Collins particularly recommended university towns and "second cities" as good investment locations.

Citing "smaller provincial cities such as Cambridge and Oxford" as prime examples, the real estate expert insisted that certain areas would remain perpetually popular.

"Buying near the university cities would be quite a good investment at the moment because of the amount of students and it's not so governed by the economic situation," he said.

Second cities are also a hotbed for young workers in need of rented accommodation, enhancing letting opportunities.

"There's potential in London," Mr Collins added, pointing to the fact that prices in the capital are continuing to rise in many areas.

Buy-to-let investors have been reminded that new legislation is due to come into force this October, making energy performance ratings compulsory for all marketed properties.

Landlords are therefore advised to consider green improvements, such as double glazing and added insulation, to make their rental property more appealing to prospective tenants.ADNFCR-1051-ID-18564616-ADNFCR
