Does Everest use Pilkington-K?

We can offer Pilkington K glass if required. Our standard sealed units do not include K glass as the technology has moved on from this, and the new soft coat low e glass is now more efficient and does not have the slightly brown tint that K glass has.

What is the airgap between the panes of glass?

Generally our windows have an air gap of 20mm, though this may vary depending on the type of window and the type of sealed unit specified.

What is the thickness of the glass?

The thickness of the glass we use depends on what the customer chooses. Generally, most glass is 4mm, laminated glass is 6.4mm and Everest Silent glass is 10mm.

Are they FSC certified? what is FSC?

Softwood is FSC certified. Hardwood comes from carefully managed resources. Hardwood can be FSC certified if required, though a surcharge applies.

What wood are Everest timber products made from?

We use different types of wood for different products. All wood is chosen for its qualities and suitability for the specified use. Timber availability and price fluctuates and we may change the types of wood used in order to offer the best possible value for money Most softwood is European Redwood. Hardwoods include Sapele, Meranti, Idigbo and Cedar.

What is the width of the timber?

This varies depending on the type of wood used and the product in question. Our advisors will be happy to provide more information about this at your free consultation.

What are the colour options (coloured and stained) for Everest timber products?

Timber products come in white, cream or grey paint and teak or mahogany stain.

Are Everest products fireproof?

We do offer a fire door which is tested to the relevant fire regulations for installing in flats and apartments.

What types of wooden doors are available?

At Everest we offer top quality wooden doors in a variety of styles and colours, individually designed to suit your needs. Our traditional entrance doors are made from Utile hardwood. You can choose from teak, oak, mahogany and dark mahogany wood-stain finishes, plus painted finish in white, cream, red, green, blue or grey.

You can further personalise your wooden door by choosing from a range of colours for the handles, letterboxes and hinges, plus optional features such as spy holes and security chains for additional peace of mind. Other security features include a multi-point locking system, ,and triple hinges.  

All of our wooden doors offer high levels of comfort and heat-retention, thanks to the weather resistant seals and double glazed sealed units we install. By minimising heat loss, these doors could even cut down your energy bills by reducing your reliance on central heating.

We also protect your investment in our products with comprehensive long-term guarantees, including a 5 year guarantee on the paint or stained finish, a 10 year guarantee on the materials and workmanship of the door and a 30 year guarantee against wood rot and fungus. All of these guarantees are transferrable to the new owner of your property should you ever decide to move.

Do Everest sell oak doors?

Oak is actually not the best hardwood to use for windows and doors as it has a tendency to twist and split over time. Everest do offer a hardwood timber option in our traditional Entrance doors, back doors and French doors, using either Utile or Sapele hardwoods, both of which are ideal for this purpose. All of our wooden doors come from top-quality, specially selected renewable resources and are guaranteed against wood rot and fungi for thirty years. You can choose from teak, oak, or mahogany stains, or painted finish in white cream, red, green, blue or grey.

Do Everest sell sliding doors?

Yes. Our uPVC or aluminium patio doors feature sliding glass panels, perfect for providing easy access to your garden or balcony.

We offer sliding doors in a range of styles, including a choice of six different wood-grain finishes. You can also have a different frame colour for the inside and outside of the door if you wish. A selection of handle finishes help to complete the personally tailored look.

We recently added BiFold doors to our product range. This über-modern design can open up an entire wall to the garden, an eye-catching extra feature that offers incredible versatility. Our flush line pop out handles allows you to stack the panels back tightly, taking up minimum space and offering impressive security. They can all slide to the same side, or can be split so some open one way and some the other.

All our sliding doors are perfectly made to measure and come with extensive guarantees, including a ten year guarantee on all materials and workmanship and 25 years on the aluminium and the colour finish. Do Everest sell internal doors?

At this time Everest do not sell internal doors. We do however sell a range of external doors suitable for the front and rear of your property. Take a look at our range of traditional entrance doors, French doors, patio doors, bi-fold doors and cottage doors, and contact us for more information.

Are Everest Doors wide enough for a wheelchair to go through?

At Everest of our doors are made to measure. The width of your door is dependent on the width of the opening we’re fitting it to. If you have a property with a wider space for the door frame, we can manufacture a door to the appropriate dimensions for easy wheelchair accessibility. However, we cannot alter the width of the existing opening.

We can also offer a low threshold option under certain circumstances, to provide easier access of wheelchair users. You can discuss our accessibility options with our consultant during your free, no obligation appointment.

Can Everest fit a cat flap into my new door?

At Everest we don’t provide cat flaps ourselves. However, if our customers can provide a cat flap we will be happy to install it during the process of fitting the door. Can I repaint my Everest timber doors?

You can repaint your timber doors, but it is advisable to follow our care and maintenance guidelines, which specify the type of paint or stain that you should use.
