What wood are Everest timber products made from?
We use different types of wood for different products. All wood is chosen for its qualities and suitability for the specified use. Timber availability and price fluctuates and we may change the types of wood used in order to offer the best possible value for money Most softwood is European Redwood. Hardwoods include Sapele, Meranti, Idigbo and Cedar.

Timber products come in white, cream or grey paint and teak or mahogany stain.

Does Everest use Pilkington-K?
We can offer Pilkington K glass if required. Our standard sealed units do not include K glass as the technology has moved on from this, and the new soft coat low e glass is now more efficient and does not have the slightly brown tint that K glass has.

Softwood is FSC certified. Hardwood comes from carefully managed resources. Hardwood can be FSC certified if required, though a surcharge applies.

The system rates the energy efficiency of windows from A to G - with A the highest rating - just as you now see on white goods, such as fridges, freezers and washing machines.

Can I drill into uPVC frames to hang blinds / curtains?
It is not a problem to fix net curtains and light weight blinds by screwing into the uPVC window frames. For heavier blinds and curtains, however, it would be better to use a curtain rail fixed into the wall above the window. Remember that once you have made a hole in the uPVC it is impossible to repair the hole neatly afterwards should you want to remove the blinds.

What is the frame depth for uPVC, aluminium and timber windows?
uPVC casement windows have a 70mm frame depth. Timber casements have a 68mm frame depth as standard, and can be 92mm as an option. Aluminium casements have a timber sub-frame depth of 63mm or 88mm.

For the majority of our products we will use our own fully-trained installers. For some of our products, we will instruct carefully selected partners to carry out the installation on our behalf. Does Everest offer dual colour window frames?
Yes, Everest uPVC casement windows can be specified with a selection of wood-grain effects. We can often offer you the choice of having the wood-grain on the outside and white on the inside.
Although we offer a range of aluminium colours, we only offer one option for dual-colour – white on the inside and black on the outside.

The thickness of the glass we use in our windows depends on what the customer chooses. Generally, most glass is 4mm, laminated glass is 6.4mm and Everest Silent glass is 10mm.

Generally our windows have an air gap of 20mm, though this may vary depending on the type of window and the type of sealed unit specified.
