PVCu Windows

Secure, virtually maintenance-free and build to last...

What is PVCu?

PVCu stands for Polyvinyl Chloride Un-plasticised. You may be familiar with the term ‘PVC’ for the material used in the manufacture of a variety of products, such as handbags, shoes and faux-leather. The PVC used in these products is softened – whereas in its un-plasticised form PVC has properties that make it ideal not just for windows, but also for doors, conservatories and roofline products. It’s sturdy, tough on impact, resistant to weathering and doesn’t expand, melt or lose shape when exposed to the higher and lower ends of normal climactic temperature, although it can be reshaped at very high temperatures, making it recyclable.

What is the difference between PVCu and uPVC?

There is occasionally some confusion regarding the terms uPVC and PVCu. They both refer to the same material. PVCu is the European term, whereas in the UK it is still widely referred to as uPVC. Both terms can be used interchangeably.
