We dig foundations 260mm deep - more that the standard 200mm.
We lay a continuos membrane to help prevent shifting or sinking.
We place and pack down a minimum of 150mm of Ministry of Transport Type 1 subbase (the same material that is used for road foundations - 50% deeper that the industry standard.
We add, pack down and level 50mm of sand, which acts as a shock absorber.
We lay our blocks only once we are satisfied that the foundations are completely even.
We brush fine kiln-dried sand between blocks for added stability and pack them down again.
