Flat Roof Benefits

Our flat roofs comes with the following benefits

  • Built to last

Before we fit your new roof surface, we take great care to remove the old one, making sure every single piece is taken away and disposed of responsibly. If it contains asbestos, we fully comply with health and safety regulations to dispose of hazardous material.

Next, we prepare the roof properly making sure the area is clean, free from debris and in the best possible condition to receive Everest’s superior weatherproof decking boards. These boards are 18mm thick and their tongue and groove design allows them to be strongly joined together to create a single flat surface.

Weather plays a huge part in damaging most flat roof surfaces and that’s why we cover ours with 2 layers of polyester resin with extra thick glass fibre matting in between for a strong and completely watertight barrier that will last a lifetime.

  • Virtually maintenance free

That's why we build Everest Flat Roofs from Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP), a continuous surface with no joints or welds, to create a durable flat roof that looks after itself.

The GRP surface is 100% water proof, and it is the same material as used on the full of boats, so it will completely prevent water from leaking into your home.

Being made from GRP means, unlike other flat roofing materials such as felt and rubber which can tear and leak, there's no need for repainting or repair either.

Everest Rooftrim range is included as part of the installation. These products are also low maintenance, they will not warp, crack, rot or flake and never need repainting, with our white uPVC fascia boards guaranteed for life against discolouration.

  • Quality materials

The key to creating a flat roof that will stand the test of time is using the right materials. It’s a well-known fact that conventional flat roofs will leak over time, normally when the rubber or felt used to build them breaks down from sun damage or water pooling. With our materials, however, things are a little different.

When we install a new Glass-Reinforced Plastic (GRP) flat roof, we carefully remove your old roof, dispose of it in the correct way and then we replace the roof surface using only the highest quality 18mm weatherproof structurally engineered decking boards. If your new roof is over a habitable room, we add extra insulation to prevent heat loss and make it more energy efficient. We then build up the construction of the GRP roof with layers of polyester resin and glass fibre matting, to create a durable, 100% waterproof flat roof that will last a lifetime.

The glass fibre matting we use is way above the industry standard for even greater strength and durability, standing at 600gsm rather than the normal 450gsm. As an aside, we insisted on putting our GRP flat roofs through the most rigorous of tests, which they passed with flying colours to gain full approval by the BBA.

  • Lifetime guarantees

At Everest, we know a new flat roof is a significant investment and one that you want to rely on to protect your home for the future.

Our flat roofs are built with the best quality materials to prevent leaking and ensure protection against the elements for many years to come, and come with a comprehensive lifetime guarantee against water ingress for peace of mind.

All of our flat roofs are tested to the highest standards to ensure they comply with the specifications required for UK building regulations, and in most cases they far exceed them. This includes making sure the roof has the correct insulation to achieve the best energy rating figure, which in turn can help when it comes to selling your property on.

  • Energy efficient

At Everest, we take looking after the environment very seriously and so our flat roofs are not only built to protect your home from water damage but also to actively help you reduce your carbon footprint by making your home warmer and more energy efficient.

Each flat roof we install has industry leading levels of insulation installed when the roof is over a habitable space, which actually exceeds the standards that building regulations require in most cases.

When you consider that a quarter of heat is lost through the roof of an un-insulated home, Everest flat roofs not only help protect the environment but also keep your home warmer and save you money on your energy bills. In fact, The Energy Savings Trust’s figures show that insulation could save you around £190 and 800kg of carbon dioxide a year provided half your roof area is flat.
