General:
How long will my home consultation last?
As long as you’d like it to! If you just want a half-hour overview of your options, that’s what we’ll provide.
However, we generally find that most customers already have some idea of the products that appeal to them and would like to use their appointment to discuss their ideas with a consultant, who can call on years of experience to offer expert advice on the most suitable options and features.
In this case, our consultant will take the time to listen carefully to your requirements and make sure that you’re considering the right options for you, your home and your unique needs. We won’t rush through the details, but we also won’t overstay our welcome!
And when we say that we offer you a no obligation quote, we mean it. We won’t pressure you into making a decision, instead you can take your time to really consider all the facts and make sure that everything is right for you.

How long should I expect to wait between placing my order and actual installation?
You should expect to wait at least 6-8 weeks for your installation. This will depend on the type of product you have ordered as for example, an entrance door will have different manufacturing times to 12 custom built windows.

How can I be assured of the quality of your products?
Everest always emphasises quality above all else. We are one of the most highly awarded companies in the UK home improvement market – and for good reason. Our superior products have been awarded:
- 9 British Standards Institute Kitemarks
- 6 British Board of Agrément Certificates
- 3 British Standards Quality Marks
You can click here to find out more about this.
We offer proven quality that is often so far ahead of industry standards that our products end up setting the benchmarks by which others are judged.
But we don’t rely on official recognition alone. We also carry out exhaustive tests on all of our products to ensure that they really do offer outstanding quality – now and for years to come.
These tests are often extreme – challenging products far more than is really necessary to ensure that they will perform without fail during normal use in your home.
We use automatic machines to continuously open and close the hinges and locks of our windows and doors millions of times, for example. We attempt to smash our toughened safety glass with wrecking balls. We use vacuums to carefully check the seals on allo our double-glazed units. We expose those same sealed units to temperatures as low as -50°C to test for internal condensation. And we even conduct high-humidity tests to simulate the effects of five years of weathering on our products in just 28 days.
We study everything that affects our products – from how intruders work to local weather patterns. So we can ensure, for example, that your new conservatory roof is suitable for your particular location because we have specifically designed it to cope with the levels of rain- and snowfall in your local area.
In short, we only fit products we’re prepared to back up with our Price Promise.

Conservatories:
Where should I position my conservatory?
Your conservatory will be affected by the path of the sun. North facing conservatories will be exposed to less sun than South facing conservatories.
With an Everest conservatory, you can choose where your conservatory is positioned - North, South, East or West - without the worry that your conservatory will be too hot or too cold. Everest works to the highest standards to ensure that your conservatory can be used all year round, taking its position into consideration when advising on glass options, ventilation and heating.

Can I use my conservatory all year round?
An Everest conservatory is a joy in all seasons. All aspects of your conservatory design will work together to create a pleasant and comfortable environment in both summer and winter: The glazing we use offers superior insulation with a U-value of 1.4 as standard; the floor is fully insulated and damp proofed; the walls are cavity insulated; trickle vents and roof vents provide the necessary ventilation. We also offer special glass for conservatory roofs which reflects the sun and reduces glare.

Will I need planning permission?
Depending on the size of your desired conservatory and whether your home has been extended before, you may need planning permission. As a general rule of thumb a detached or semi-detached house with no history of extensions, can add up to 15% of its volume or alternatively 70 cubic metres without requiring planning permission. A terraced house or any house within a conservation area without any previous extensions, can add up to 10% of its volume or 50 cubic metres.
Even if planning permission is required, Everest will take care of it. Everest offers a complete turnkey service meaning we will apply for planning permission and Building Regulations approval for you so all you need to do is sit back and relax
.

How do I know my conservatory will last the test of time?
Everest conservatories are built to last. The products that go into making your conservatory have been tested and conform to British Standards and the conservatory roof system is BBA accredited – a testament to the quality of the Everest conservatory.
The uPVC used in our conservatories conforms to BS 7413 proving that Everest uses the highest quality uPVC which is resistant to all weathers and attack. Everest also fit the best sealed units which conform to BSEN 1279 2&3 and come with a lifetime guarantee in uPVC walls. In addition, the Everest conservatory wall frames are reinforced with independent structural coupling sections or structural timber mullions for timber conservatories ensuring the rigidity and longevity of your conservatory.

How safe will my conservatory be?
Everest uses the highest specification toughened glass in its conservatories which conforms to BS 6206 Class A. In the unlikely event that the glass is broken, it will shatter into small, harmless fragments rather than into sharp and dangerous pieces.

How secure will my conservatory be?
At Everest, security is always on our mind so that it doesn’t have to be on yours: The toughened glass used in our conservatories is incredibly difficult to break; we fit high quality hardware, lockable window handles and multipoint locking mechanisms on doors and windows and subject these to stringent tests. These tests prove that our doors and windows are 50% better than the British Standards.

How can you ensure my conservatory won’t move?
Everest conducts a comprehensive site survey to determine the best way of constructing your conservatory to prevent movement. Based on the survey, Everest will undertake structural foundations up to 1 metre deep or, alternatively, where obstacles are present which may cause your conservatory to move, Everest will build an engineered piled base. All base and building works undertaken by Everest are constructed within Building Regulation guidelines so you can rest assured that every measure has been taken to prevent movement.

Windows:
What is the Window Energy Rating system and how does it affect me?
The system rates the energy efficiency of windows from A to G – with A the highest rating – just as you now see on white goods, such as fridges, freezers and washing machines.
This new window energy rating system was introduced by the Government in April 2006 and will eventually replace the previously used ‘U’ values.
Unlike this older method, the new window energy rating system measures the whole window – glass and frame. It combines three factors affecting the energy performance of the window: heat loss, solar heat gain and heat loss through air infiltration.
The minimum energy rating requirement for replacement windows is E. For windows in new home extensions, it is D.
Our premium uPVC casement windows are A-rated for energy efficiency – and our standard windows still achieve an impressive B rating.
By replacing single glazing with B-rated windows, homeowners can cut their electricity bill by £167 per year!*
* Calculations based on an average house with 8 square metres of window glass and electricity costs of 11p per kWh.
