Double glazing and energy-efficient technology 'popular with homeowners'

Adding energy-efficient technology to dwellings, such as with upvc doors, double glazing, insulation and even solar panels, is becoming increasingly popular for homeowners.

This is according to property consultancy firm Knight Frank, which claims that as well as having environmental benefits, these features can help people save money.

The company noted that builders have to construct more eco-friendly and sustainable homes because of a rising demand for this type of dwelling.

Darren Yates, partner in commercial research at Knight Frank, said: "[Not only is] there legislation coming in which is forcing builders to become more environmentally friendly, but consumers want the companies that they are buying from to behave in a more environmentally friendly way as well."

Estate agents Harrison Murray has advised homeowners to make their dwellings as energy efficient as possible before the winter weather sets in.

The company noted that having features like insulation, double glazing and more can help to reduce the amount of heat lost from properties and also save people money on their electricity and gas bills.ADNFCR-1051-ID-800743323-ADNFCR
