People living in London may wish to invest in
home security after hearing that the UK capital is one of the country's hotspots for burglary.
According to research by moneysupermarket.com, homeowners in London are most likely to make a claim for theft on their home insurance.
The price comparison website found that ten of the top 20 postcode areas for burglary insurance claims are located in the capital.
Manchester, Leeds and Bristol each have two postcode areas in the list.
Julie Owens, head of home insurance at moneysupermarket.com, said affluent urban areas are a major target for criminals.
"With recent statistics reporting that last summer insurers handled almost 80,000 domestic burglary claims paying out £84 million, homeowners need to be extra vigilant when it comes to security," she remarked.
Technology such as wireless alarm systems and pre-entry detection can give homeowners peace of mind and reduce the risk of theft.
