Pub owners looking to get go-ahead for conservatory
19 November 2008
The owners of a pub in Suffolk have expressed their joy after finally being able to add a conservatory to the property, the Publican reports today (November 19th).Ady Smith and partner Karen have been running the Dove Street Inn in Ipswich for the past five years and decided recently that they wanted to make the notable addition.
However, they initially struggled to finance the deal with their lender, which also refused to allow upgrades they intended to make on a nearby property they acquired at an auction.
But after trawling the market for a different source of funding, they eventually managed to get the green light for all the alterations.
Mr Smith told thepublican.com: "Despite the current downturn in the general economy, trading has remained robust. We wanted to take advantage of this by developing the businesses further.
"We plan to develop a conservatory area at the existing site and, if planning permission is approved, build two letting rooms and a microbrewery at the new property. This should enhance the business even further."
The Dove Street Inn is the main focus of the Real East Anglian Cask Houses group.
