Frequently asked questions

Please select a question from the list below:

Q.

Can you install Solar PV technology on listed buildings or buildings in conservation areas?

Unfortunately we cannot install Solar PV technology on listed buildings. If you live in a conservation area please check with your local authority before you consider installing Solar PV. If the local authority allows it we will proceed, but there may be costs associated with obtaining planning permission. This can also affect the lead-time between ordering your solar PV technology and installation. Our consultants will be able to explain this to you in greater detail during your free, no obligation appointment.

Q.

Can you install Solar PV onto hipped, flat or curved Roof types?

We can install Solar PV on Hipped roofs, but it is likely to reduce the useable roof space area. Unfortunately we cannot install solar panelling on curved roofs. Please contact our free advice line on 0800 008 7167 for more information on your roof’s suitability for Solar PV technology.

Q.

Does Everest’s home finance account apply to Solar Products?

The Everest Home Finance option does not apply to solar technology, but we do offer an Easy Payment Plan wherein the cost of your new solar PV system can be spread for up to 60 months. Our consultants can provide more information about our Easy Payment plan during your free, no obligation appointment.

Q.

Can Everest install Solar PV if I have a Dorma or Velux Window in the roof space?

We can install Solar PV if you have these windows. Our consultants will be able to discuss your roof’s suitability for Solar PV technology in greater detail when they visit your home.

Q.

Can Solar PV be installed on a Thatched or Felted Roof?

Solar PV cannot be installed on a thatched roof, but it can be installed on a felted roof. Our consultants will be able to assess the suitability of your roof for solar PV during your free consultation.

Q.

In Scotland there are grants available for Solar technology, am I able to use these grants to pay for Solar PV from Everest?

Your local authority should be able to confirm this. Please check with them before your survey.

Q.

What happens if it is not a sunny day - will I still get water and heating?

Solar PV utilises sunlight, not heat from the sun. As long as there is light, then a level of electricity will be produced. When there is insufficient light available, for example at night, the electricity will be drawn from the grid.
