Window Scrappage - making energy efficiency affordable
These days homeowners are more concerned than ever with making their homes energy efficient and reducing their carbon footprint. Replacing your old windows with A-Rated double glazing is one of the most effective ways to reduce heat loss and make your home greener.
According to Michael Holmes, spokesperson for the National Home Improvement Show, finding cost-effective ways to make our homes eco-friendly is a major factor when many people are considering home improvements.
“Cost is always a strong motivator for change,” he explained. “If homeowners can understand that making a home more energy efficient is not cost prohibitive and returns can be made quite swiftly, then we may start moving towards a higher take-up of eco-home solutions.”
With this in mind, The Glass & Glazing Federation (GGF) recently petitioned the government to introduce a national window scrappage scheme, making it easier and more financially appealing for homeowners to replace their old windows.
Unfortunately the government have rejected the petition for now, promising that their forthcoming ‘Green Deal’ will cover schemes to help homeowners to reduce their carbon footprint.
However at Everest we still offer our own scrappage scheme, in which we will give customers up to £2,500 for their old windows to go towards installing brand new A-Rated ones!
