Timber Doors offer many great benefits

Natural beauty

Natural beauty and better looking

Wooden doors are a marvellous way to give your home a classic look with timeless charm and uncompromising style. With a wide range of designs, paint and hardware finishes available, we can easily match a door to the character of your home. Moreover, we use modern lamination and finger jointing technology to remove knots from softwood to achieve a smooth and beautiful appearance that will last for years.

Expertly designed for optimal warmth

Our wooden doors are made-to-measure and precision crafted for a perfect fit. We have a far lower tolerance for gaps than other suppliers to keep the draughts out and the heat in. Most importantly timber is the most thermally efficient material for a door and does not conduct heat or cold and so will keep your home wonderfully warm. In addition we add low-e glass to reflect heat back into the room.

Naturally retain heat
Strong and secure

Strong and secure

For complete peace of mind, our wooden doors feature a multi-point, bi-directional stainless steel locking mechanism and three high security hinges as standard. They are also made to measure to within fractions of a millimetre for the perfect fit, which makes them more secure and gives a neater finish.

Guaranteed for peace of mind

Our timber doors have a 30-year guarantee against rot and fungus to keep your doors looking beautiful for years to come. We also have a 10-year guarantee on the whole door, while painted and stained finishes are guaranteed for five years.

A choice of wood and finish

Hardwood or Softwood

Hardwood or Softwood

We offer sustainably sourced softwood (European Redwood) and hardwood (Red Grandis), both of which are accredited by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC). Our hardwood and softwood are laminated and engineered so layers of timber are specially bonded together to add strength and rigidity. For even further durability our softwood is finger jointed to eradicate knots and resist twisting.

Stain or Paint finished timber windows

Stained or painted

We would never claim that timber is maintenance free but if wood is the only option or you love the look, then we offer the most advanced stains on the market. Impressive stained finishes on all our hardwood frames, highlights the beauty of the natural grain which gives an authentic look with timeless charm and uncompromising style. Alternatively, we offer a great range of painted finishes on our softwood timber providing a more contemporary finish.

Solid construction

Solid construction

All our wooden doors are laminated for added strength and rigidity, while our softwood is also engineered with finger jointing technology to add strength, eradicate knots and resist twisting. The door leaf is rebated with double weather-resistant seals to prevent rain water entering.

FAQs

Q: Is timber prone to movement?

Timber’s beauty comes from the fact it is a natural material, and as a natural product some degree of movement in terms of expansion/contraction can be expected. However, with the engineered timber that Everest use, this movement is kept to a minimum.

Q: Do timber doors warp over time?

A low quality timber door can warp over time, however, Everest wooden doors are laminated and engineered to add strength, eradicate knots and resist twisting.

Q: What are the main reasons for choosing a timber door?

Wooden doors are considered by many to be the most visually pleasing type of door. Their natural beauty suits both traditional and modern properties. For many homes, particularly in conservation areas, wooden doors are the perfect choice. They are also available in a wide range of painted and stained colours so you can create the ideal look to suit your home.

Q: How often do timber doors need to be redecorated?

We use micro-porous paint and stain finishes on all of our timber products to keep them looking good, however timber products aren’t maintenance free and will require regular maintenance to maintain the performance and look of the product. The regularity of maintenance will depend on the location of your property and where the wooden windows are located on the property.

Our paint finishes will require maintenance every 3 years to 4 years in a moderate climate (non-coastal areas at low altitude) or every 2 to 3 years in extreme climates (coastal areas and high altitude).

Our stain finishes will require maintenance every 2 to 3 years in a moderate climate (non-coastal areas at low altitude) or every 1 to 2 years in extreme climates (coastal areas and high altitude).

Unsheltered doors will require more maintenance than those sheltered or partly sheltered.

We recommend that the surface coating is inspected annually and if required you should re-coat the wood with micro-porous stain or paint.

Q: How often do timber doors need to be cleaned?

All of our timber frames are made from specifically selected, seasoned wood. Timber has natural properties which help it withstand the elements and in the factory we apply a ‘colour harmonising’ finish containing a preservative. We then apply a micro-porous protective stain or paint finish. However, timber is a natural material so requires regular attention to keep them looking good. You should carry out cleaning regularly, at least twice a year. The factory applied coating systems will give many years of life between repainting cycles and simple steps, such as wiping down the product to remove dirt and insects will help to extend the decorative finish. Washing your door regularly with soap and water can add years of life to your wooden door.
