What is an Orangery

Orangeries are beautiful structures that could add elegance and grandeur to your property. An orangery has an ornate roof lantern that offers plenty of space and light internally. Externally, there is a cornicing that wraps around the roofline to offer a classical design and brickwork that offers more insulation than full glass walls.

An orangery is more substantial than a conservatory, and can be considered halfway between a conservatory and an extension. With the benefits of plenty of light whilst being more insulated and an extension to your main property.

Everest orangeries are available in a range of colours with state-of-the-art engineering.

Why choose an Orangery?

Orangery FAQs

Choosing a new Orangery can be a daunting task, so to help you here are some popular FAQs which you might find useful.

What is the difference between a conservatory and an orangery?

A conservatory is a structure built with a maximum amount of glass from floor to ceiling and a pitched glazed roof. Conservatories also have the option for a small low-level brick wall from the floor and a solid roof. Usually, to be considered a conservatory, the roof is more than 75% glass and the walls must be at least 50% glass.

An Orangery is built with more brick work with the walls that house large vertical windows. The roof is solid with a central glass lantern that adds plenty of light and space. Externally, an orangery has a cornice that runs around the roofline for an ornate finish.

What are the benefits of an Orangery over a Conservatory

A conservatory is a space full of light that offers views from all angles. Although it doesn't have much privacy and can be cool in winter and hot in summer.

An orangery is a more substantial structure that has better insulation and thermal performance whilst allowing plenty of light to flood into the room.

It feels more like a seamless extension to your home that can be enjoyed in all weathers. An orangery feels more luxurious and offers elegance to a home.

Is an Orangery more expensive than a Conservatory?

An orangery is more expensive than a conservatory as it is more substantial structure with more brick work with more details. However, an orangery can add more value to a home than a conservatory and should be considered as a longer term investment.
