    Door furniture and hardware refer to all the additional parts that are added to a front door slab, such as handles, knockers and knobs. Door furniture is usually made from metal, brass or chrome, although black door furniture is becoming more popular.


    Everest supplies a door furniture set with the door and you can choose from a variety of styles and colours to make your door bespoke.

    Door furniture and hardware includes:

    Can you screw into a uPVC door?

    You can screw into uPVC but the material is quite thin and doesn’t offer a secure grip for a screw.


    If you do want to screw into a uPVC door, use a thin drill bit to make a small pilot hole and use a short self-tapping screw.

    How do I replace my door handle?

    Changing a door handle on a uPVC or composite door is relatively straightforward if you have the same size and style handle to replace. This can be completed in only five minutes.

    If you want to significantly change the size or style of the handle, it will depend on where the screw holes are situated and if the new handle will cover them. Also, the depth of the spindle needs to be the right size for the depth of the door.

    How do I clean door hardware?

    To clean metal and chrome door furniture:

    • Use a warm soap/water solution to wash any dirt off the door and hardware
    • Rinse with clean water
    • Use a soft cloth or towel to immediately dry all furniture
    • Buff with a soft cloth to get a shine

    Do not use any abrasive cleaning solutions or scourers as this can scratch and damage the surface of the hardware. Do not use bleach on a uPVC or composite door as this can discolour the material surface.
