Commonly Asked Questions

Can you paint uPVC doors?

A quick way to refresh your home’s exterior is by painting your exterior uPVC doors. In theory, it is possible to paint a uPVC but at Everest, we would not overly promote this idea as paint won’t provide such a good finish and there is always a chance that the pain will not bond to the surface and will begin to flake – certainly if it's in direct sunlight for long periods.

How safe are uPVC doors?

Early uPVC doors suffered from a security flaw because the euro locks used could easily be ‘snapped’ to gain access to a property. Improved anti-snap locks solved the issue and modern quality uPVC doors now have locking systems that meet British Security Standards.

Everest uPVC doors are fitted with 3 star cylinders designed with anti-snap, anti-pick, anti-drill and anti-bump protection to keep your door secure.

All Everest uPVC Doors feature Secured by Design accredited Yale 3* lock cylinders which meet British kitemark TS007:2014

What is better, uPVC or composite doors?

The main difference between uPVC and composite doors is in the materials. uPVC doors are constructed solely of uPVC a strong and durable form of plastic. Whereas, composite doors are made from a selection of materials including a solid timber core, glass-reinforced polyester skins and uPVC frame. Composite doors, though more expensive, tend to be more popular due to their robust, long-lasting structure.
