    How much does a conservatory cost?
    As bespoke builds this all depends on size and design but as a starting budget a 3x3 metre conservatory will start from around £14k. However, many items need to be considered such as planning permission, requirements for building works and number of openings both into your property and into the garden.

    A conservatory is defined as a glass structure with a brick base and a pitched roof comprising of over 75% glass. An Orangery is defined as a mostly brick structure with large windows a flat roof and a glass lantern.

    There are many factors to consider concerning planning permission. The size of your conservatory, your property and many other factors can have an impact on whether you will get planning permission for your new conservatory or not.     Can you stand on a conservatory roof?
    The roof of a conservatory is not made to be load bearing. Therefore, you should not attempt to stand, walk or crawl along them. If you clean your conservatory roof then it is advisable to use a telescopic brush and ladder, or speak to a professional cleaning company who will have all the necessary equipment to clean the roof effectively.

    Are conservatories covered by buildings insurance?
    Existing conservatories are covered under standard home contents and buildings insurance, providing that it is built and classed as a permanent structure that has been constructed properly. The majority of insurance companies will treat a conservatory as part of the building itself. However, it is always worth checking with your home insurance provider.
